The machine
Under a sheet of tempered glass, a miniature course glows: fairways in three shades of green, sand bunkers, a still lake, an arched stone bridge, tree lines, and a path lit end to end by warm points of light. Tiny golfers stand mid-swing on the greens. Switch it on at night and the whole course lifts out of the dark.
The body opens on four glass-fronted vitrines, each lit from inside: irons and woods crossed on a stand, a trophy, a folded glove, a cart. The pieces that usually sit forgotten in a garage bag, finally on show.
Black lacquer body, fine brass fillets, a flat glass top you can actually set a drink on. It reads as a piece of furniture before it reads as a golf thing, which is why it survives the living-room negotiation.

It’s saved my weekends! I’m really impressed by how well it cuts. I’ve used it several times in tall grass, and it handled it with ease! The discharge chute is incredibly efficient and very well designed.
